Safer chemicals within REACH
in 1992, in the small Spanish town of Cocentaina, six young textile workers died, and 80 more were seriously injured, after spraying a dyestuff intended to be used by a roller. This tragic case underlined the need to know more about the chemicals we take for granted in our everyday lives – which is precisely the aim of a newly agreed EU chemicals law called REACH.
