Tackling air pollution
Tiny particles found in exhaust fumes are a major source of air pollution in Europe, causing tens of thousands of premature deaths a year. The French city of Dunkirk knows about this problem all too well – which is why it is cooperating with the south-east region of Britain in a research project funded by the European Commission.
