Not so blue Danube
The Danube, Europe’s longest and most majestic river, flows into the Black Sea in Romania. But decades of neglect and pollution have left the Danube delta in a sorry state. To prevent untreated waste being dumped into the river, the EU is financing a water treatment plant in the town of Braila, upstream from the delta.
