Next month, a new video will be released about “Green Infrastructure”, a strategically planned network of high-quality green spaces and environmental features. With around 80% of the EU’s population now living in towns or cities, taking care of the green infrastructure that breathes life into urban and rural habitats has never been more important. Achieving thriving biodiversity is vital to addressing numerous challenges, from climate change adaptation to long-term economic stability.

The EU’s Rapid Alert System (RAPEX) is instrumental in ensuring that rising numbers of unsafe products are removed from the market. Within an increasingly consumer-driven society, where the single market allows free movement of goods, RAPEX helps to stop dangerous products from reaching the buying public in 30 European countries. Through the system, national authorities notify the Commission of products which present a serious risk, such as electric shocks, choking and burns, to consumers. RAPEX immediately launches a process to inform and warn authorities in other countries where the product is sold so that they can take immediate appropriate action.
