On November 3rd, 2009, the leaders of the European Union and of the United States met in Washington. The annual EU-US summit renewed the transatlantic partnership by developing green economics.
Fourteen million jobs depend on the transatlantic relationship which accounts for forty per cent of world trade. Leaders on both sides of the Atlantic are recognizing how investing in clean energy industry can create jobs while at the same time reducing greenhouse gases.
In an interview ahead of the summit, President Barroso says the relationship is important not just in economic terms but also for the future of our planet. He’s urged the US Senate to follow the climate change initiatives taken by the Obama administration.
